The Town of Bakersfield is seeking a full-time Highway Technician member to join our team!

Education, Training and Experience

• Must have a Commercial driver’s license Class A or B.

• Must comply with US DOT Drug & Alcohol as required by 49 CFR Part 655 or 49 CFR Part 40.

• Knowledge of highway construction procedures and methods preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and construction work on town roadways and facilities, Including but not limited to: installation and maintenance of culverts; screening and Storage of sand and salt; mowing roadside areas; and other duties as assigned.

• Operate hand tools, heavy equipment, light trucks, plow trucks, power tools, and other highway department equipment as directed by the road foreman.

• Perform winter snow and ice removal on town roads and sidewalks.

• Use chainsaw and other tools to cut brush and trees along roadsides.

• Perform regular and special maintenance on town equipment and vehicles as directed by road foreman.

• Respond to calls for assistance from road foreman on a 24-hour basis, as requested.

 

Hours
Monday-Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
Seasonal hours and overtime as needed.

 

Compensation and Benefits
Pay range is $22.00-$27.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
